Applications for Student Restoration & Practice Grants Now Being Accepted


The Midwest Great Lakes Chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER MWGL) is now accepting applications for student grants in two categories:  research and practice. The application deadline is March 1, 2016.

“January 29, 2016–The Society for Ecological Restoration Midwest Great Lakes Chapter (SER MWGL) is pleased to welcome applications for the 2016 Student Practice Grant and the 2016 Student Research Grant. Applications are due by March 1, 2016. Submission details are provided below.”

“SER MWGL is a regional chapter of the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER).   The Society for Ecological Restoration is an international organization dedicated to reversing widespread degradation of the globe and ‘restoring the earth’s ecological balance for the benefit of humans and nature.’   The Midwest Great Lakes Chapter is a regional affiliate of SER, covering the midwestern states of Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa.”

“Student Practice Grant: The purpose of the Student Restoration Practice Grant is to encourage and support student involvement the practice of ecological restoration within the regional boundaries of SER MWGL Chapter. Student Chapter members attending institutions of higher education within the regional boundaries are eligible to apply for the award. The Chapter will award one grant of up to $1,000 to an eligible student, student group, or student-oriented group to be used for supplies, equipment, and other items that will support implementation of restoration practices. The award winner will be announced on the chapter blog (https://restorationnewsmidwest.wordpress.com) and the recipient will be expected to present an oral or poster presentation about their funded project at the 2017 Annual Chapter Meeting. “Student Research Grant: The purpose of the Student Research Grant is to encourage and support student involvement in research in ecological restoration within the regional boundaries of the SER MWGL Chapter.
