This morning we have a guest post from the Volunteer Coordinator of the Friends of Lake Wingra (FoLW) announcing some of their upcoming spring events.
“Good Morning from Friends of Lake Wingra! We have several events coming up to let you know about, we hope to have a lot of opportunities to meet all of you over the coming months!”
Odana Rain Garden Garlic Mustard Pull May 16, 2015
“First of all, this Wednesday May 13 from 5-7 PM, is likely the last chance to help pull Garlic Mustard in the Odana Rain Garden area for this year. We have been making good progress in creating a buffer area around the rain garden and in clearing out the downstream area. There are some beautiful native wildflowers in this area that are making a strong come back after years of work by volunteers in this area. Meet at the south end of the parking lot at the Odana Golf course, bring your own gloves and garlic mustard digging tool if you have one.”
Wingra Creek Clean Up
“We are having our annual Wingra Creek cleanup on June 6th from 9AM – 12PM. This is a fun event where volunteers cleanup the shoreline either on foot or by boat! We are co-hosting this event with Dane County Office of Lakes and Watersheds and Strand Associates. See our event posting on our website for all the details.”
Jazz in the Park
“Jazz in the Park is planned for June 20th this year at Wingra Park and Friends of Lake Wingra is working with our friends at Wingra Boats to participate by offering narrated pontoon boat rides during the event. Stay tuned for more details on this fun community event!”
“We are also working on facilitating some fun social events for our friends. We hope to have these informal events at least monthly during the summer. Right now evening and/or morning meetup for paddling at Wingra Boats are being planned so stay tuned for more details about that. If anyone has an idea for a fun event that would be a good fit for Friends of Lake Wingra please let me know by sending an email to email@example.com
