Dane County Lakes Protection Events Start Today

“Take a Stake in the Lakes Days”  Kick Off Event with Dane County Executive Joe Parisi and Lands’ End

Friday June 1, 2012–Dane County “Take a Stake in the Lakes Days” begins today with three big events and runs through June 17.  (See event schedule for daily details.)  For a quarter century now, Take a Stake in the Lakes Days volunteers have worked to improve the lakes, streams, and watersheds of Dane County.  This year’s event,  sponsored by the Dane County Lakes and Watershed Commission,  and the Clean Lakes Alliance has scheduled a variety of volunteer activities from June 1-17 (see complete schedule.)

The day starts early with an Aldo Leopold Nature Center work party at Black Earth Creek from 9am to 2pm at 10 at 10648 Sutcliffe Road, Black Earth.  Contact: Alanna Medearis (608) 216-9374, devcomm@naturenet.com

Next up is the official kick off event at Olin Park with County Executive Joe Parisi.  Contact:lakes@countyofdane.com.
