Jazz In The Park

This Saturday, June 18th is the 20th Annual Jazz in the Park, and Lake Wingra clean up help at Wingra Park.  The day-long event sponsored by the Dudgeon-Monroe Neighborhood Association kicks off the annual public work party to remove trash from the lake.  The Lake Clean Up runs from 9:30 until noon; local jazz musicians begin playing at 5:30pm.

Tyler Leeper, Jazz in the Park Chair, describes the event this way:

“This day long event kicks off with the Lake Wingra Clean Up where we scour the lake by boat and by foot to remove any debris or trash we may find.  There will also be an education tent where we talk about the lake the good and the bad. The clean up will be from 9:30 to noon.”

“Then the children’s activities start at noon to 2:30 and will include Log rolling, intro SUP lessons, arts & crafts, and a fire truck.  At 4 pm the music kicks off with the Edgewood College Jazz Ensemble.   At 5:30 Tony Castaneda and his Latin Jazz band takes the stage. Our closing band this year will be MadiSalsa from 7:30 until 9pm!”

“This is sure to be a great day so bring a blanket and everyone you know and join us for some great activities and music.”
