Take a Stake in the Lakes Days

Take a Stake in the Lakes Days will run through June 19 with a host of activities for everyone in the Madison watersheds.  Activities began last Friday with the Isthmus Jazz Festival and ran through the weekend with a restoration work party at the Arboretum’s Wingra Oak Savanna restoration, an underwater clean up for scuba divers, kids’ fishing days, and the State of Wisconsin’s Free Fishing Days.

There are plenty of activities coming up over the next 12 days.  See the complete schedule.

One highlight is tonight at 5 pm at the Edgewater Hotel when the Dane County Lakes & Watershed Commission will honor its 2011 Waters Champion Award recipients, former County Executive Kathleen Falk and former Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz,  at a reception Wednesday, June 8th at 5:00 p.m. at the Edgewater Hotel pier in downtown Madison. Dane County Lakes and Watershed Commission Chair Melissa Malott, and Dane County Executive Joe Parisi will present the awards.
