New Volunteers Brave A Windy Day

The Saturday (4.30.11) SW Bike Path work party attracted several eager new volunteers on the opening day of the season for weed control and general spring clean up, reports Sandy Stark, chair of the Dudgeon-Monroe Neighborhood Association (DMNA) bike path committee.

Despite the cold and wind, volunteers pulled garlic mustard (about 10 bags full), trimmed back prairie grasses, and, without  a management prairie fire this year, got the area ready for new spring growth.

Next work party Saturday May 21, 10 am at the prairie garden at the intersection Glenway Street and the SW Bike Path.
